Add Qasper to your WordPress site

About five minutes. No coding required.

Official WordPress.org listing. Free and open source. Works on WordPress 6.4 or newer.

Before you start

Three things, all free.

  • A WordPress website

If you can sign in to your website to write posts or change pages, you have one. Not sure? Ask whoever built your site.

  • A Qasper account

Free to create at qasper.ai. If you're reading this, you probably already have one.

  • Your business code

A short label like "new-york-barber". We'll show you how to find yours next.

Find your business code

It's the unique name Qasper gave your business. You only need it once, during setup.

Look at your Qasper chat web address

Open your Qasper chat page in any browser. Look at the address bar at the very top of the window. Your business code is the part between "business-agent/" and "/chat":

qasper.ai/business-agent/new-york-barber/chat

↑ this part is your business code

Or check your Qasper dashboard

Sign in at qasper.ai, then open Settings → Website embeds. Your code is shown at the top of that panel.

Tip: write the code down or copy it now — you'll need it in step 8.

Now install the plugin

Ten short steps. About five minutes.

  1. Open the official plugin page

Click the big orange button at the top of this page. It opens the official Qasper Booking page on WordPress.org in a new tab. On WordPress.org, click "Download" to save the plugin ZIP to your computer (usually in your Downloads folder). Important: don't try to open or unzip this file — WordPress does that for you.

  2. Sign in to your website

Open your usual web browser. In the address bar at the top, type your website's address followed by "/wp-admin" — for example, mysite.com/wp-admin. Sign in with the same username and password you use to manage your website.

  3. Find the Plugins menu

Once you're signed in, look at the dark menu running down the left side of the screen. Find the word "Plugins" and click it. A small list opens — click "Add New".

  4. Click "Upload Plugin"

Look at the very top of the page, next to the title "Add Plugins". You'll see a button called "Upload Plugin". Click it.

  5. Choose the file you downloaded

A new section appears with a button called "Choose File". Click it. Find the Qasper Booking ZIP file you downloaded from WordPress.org in step 1 (it's usually in your Downloads folder) and pick it. Then click the blue "Install Now" button. Wait a few seconds while WordPress installs it.

  6. Activate the plugin

When you see "Plugin installed successfully", a new blue button appears called "Activate Plugin". Click it.

  7. Open the Qasper settings

Look at the left-side menu again. Click "Settings" — a small list opens. Click "Qasper Booking".

  8. Enter your business code

At the top of the page you'll see a text box labelled "Business slug". Type your business code into this box (the one you found earlier). Click the blue "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page.

  9. Turn on the floating chat

On the same page, find the line "Site-wide floating chat". Click the checkbox next to it so it shows a tick mark. Click the blue "Save Changes" button again.

  10. Check that it appears

Open your website in a new browser tab. Look at the bottom-right corner of any page. You should see a small orange circle with a chat icon. That's your Qasper chat.

Test it like a customer would

Open your website in a private (or incognito) browser window — that way you see it just as a customer does. Click the orange chat circle in the bottom-right corner. A chat window slides in. Type "Hello" and press Enter — your Qasper agent should reply. If you got a reply, you're done. Your customers can now chat with you, day or night.

Want the chat on just one page?

Skip step 9 (don't tick the site-wide box). Instead, edit any single page or post in WordPress and paste this little code where you want the chat to appear:

[qasper_chat]

How to remove it later

Changed your mind? In your WordPress admin, click "Plugins" in the left menu. Find "Qasper Booking" in the list and click "Deactivate". The chat disappears from your website right away. You can turn it back on any time.
